He has had a varied career as a banker in South America, Senior Lecturer in Business Studies at Portsmouth University and a yoga teacher and masseur in Australia. He has spent a lot of time visiting ashrams in India and alternative communities in California.
He has a profound interest in all aspects of the spiritual path, is fun-loving with a special blend of humour and sensitivity – an ideal host and group leader.

 Derek and Liz Mantle return for a third season at La Roane. Liz has 35 years of nursing experience and thrives in her role of making people feel relaxed and at home.
Derek helps look after the property and picks people up from the airport. He loves photography and singing, and is passionate about nature in all its aspects.
