THE WAY OF THE GULL
1 x 56
Walk the 'Raad ny Foillan' with David Bean. In the company of his seagull mascot, popular TV traveller David Bean treks the spectacular 100 mile coastal path of the Isle of Man. Magnificent views towards Mann's "six" kingdoms are background to the 6000 years enshrined in this beautiful, independent island.

From the moment David rows into Peel in a Viking longship this fascinating film reveals layer by layer a rich and complex heritage which encompasses Neolithic stone circles, Viking settlements, Celtic crosses and ancient chapels, fishing ports and harbours, Victorian trams and trains and the massive water wheel at Laxey. David Bean's intriguing and perceptive commentary combined with the music, dancing, surviving language and crafts of Mann have created a complete and fascinating record.

The program concludes with the annual "Tynwald" where the 1000 year old Manx parliament meets in the open air to reaffirm the Isle of Man's Viking based democracy.

David Bean has produced more than 300 documentaries for the BBC and ITV in a career spanning more than thirty years. "Bean's Boots" featured regularly on BBC in the 70's and 80's. 'The Way of the Gull' is taken from his TV series 'The Hopeful Traveller'.
