There is also a brief but illuminating introduction and conclusion by the celebrated conductor, composer and musician David Palmer detailing the events and influences which shaped the development of the men and their work.
The Music Maestro series is entertaining, informative and above all, enjoyable. Each programme explores the life and times of a single composer against a background of orchestral performances of the highlights of his most popular works. Relevant historical and biographical details are highlighted by means of period images, feature film clips and short dramatic sequences. In order that the music is as uninterrupted as possible the story is told using on-screen captions to reinforce the images. The CD includes highlights from the repertoire of the composer in the form of complete movements from major works.
