In this splendid insight, Ustinov arrives in Pesaro, a bustling seaside town on the Adriatic coast on a July morning, where he discovers Pavarotti, owner of the world's most famous voice, in his
summer villa overlooking the beach. The intimate conversations which follow range from the origin of Pavarotti's talent to the importance of silence, why his music teacher fainted at his first
public performance and why he will never return to China.
Like Pavarotti's life, this programme revolves around music. The range and diversity of his
repertoire is well represented, from romantic folk songs to the greatest arias. Witness some of Pavarotti's finest performances from locations around the world, as well as unique
never-before-seen pictures from his private archive. Pavarotti even cooks Ustinov an Italian meal and teaches him to play bocci-ball. They go swimming together, splashing about in the pool.
Pavarotti does his impression of the Trevi Fountain and Ustinov becomes a mafioso.
With the sun setting, Pavarotti relaxes in his favourite hammock overlooking the beach and as
the shadows lengthen and the tide comes in, he confides to Ustinov the secret of true happiness.
